Raw Honey

You don’t just get any honey that you see at grocery stores. Raw honey means that it has not undergone the process that most honeys at grocery stores are produced for. They are “unfiltered” and “unpastuerized”. Expect raw honey to be on the pricier side. But the benefit you get from using raw honey is that of the smoothest skin possible. Many may have already included raw honey into their beauty routine, but only a few of them really know that it has been used in the ancient times not only for making skin smooth but in treating wounds. It has antimicrobial properties and its antioxidants and enzymes lock up the moisture into the skin.

Get raw honey and spread it evenly on your dry and clean skin using your fingertips just like how you do with your usual facial cleanser. Leave raw honey on your skin for between ten to twenty minutes to give it the extra moisture. Rinse it afterwards with lukewarm water.

Another way to apply is to mix 3 tbsp raw honey with 1 tsp ground cinnamon and apply it directly on your face. You have now a facial mask that will fight against acne. Make sure that you clean your face first and pat dry with towel. Leave the facial mixture for around an hour before you wash it away with lukewarm water.

Baking Soda

This natural chemical compound known by its scientific name as sodium bicarbonate, baking soda is an all around product that is used widely in cleaning various things such as the toilet, your kitchen or keeping the odor away from your refrigerator. But did you know that this same ingredient can also be used to exfoliate the facial skin? It is also used for baking, hence its name. It removes acne, dead skin cells and even balances the excessive production of the oil glands.

What you will need is 2 tsp baking soda mixed with 1 tsp slightly warm water to form a soft paste. Clean your face with water and gently pat it with towel, but at least keep it wet. Apply the paste mixture onto your face using your fingertips in a circular, gentle motion. Make sure that you apply the mixture onto entire face. If you want to add up the extra exfoliation, leave the baking soda paste to dry on your skin for at least five minutes. Remove the dried paste gently afterwards with your fingertips. Rinse the face with lukewarm water.

Not all people are compatible with the use of baking soda onto their skin. Test out the mixture first by applying it directly on your hands prior to applying it on your face. Avoid using baking soda on a daily basis, particularly on sensitive or dry skin.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil is widely used in cooking, but in some parts of the world, it is also used on the skin. Aside from its healthy benefits to your body, it is used to apply directly on the face. Olive oil is generally non-comedogenic, so you don’t need to worry about your pores clogging up. It also contains antioxidants such as vitamins E and A that fight against aging, repairs and moisturize the skin. It is an affordable ingredient to have in your kitchen and will also fill up your skin with the right moisture it needs. It is also good to use olive oil for removing makeup.

All you need to do is just dab your fingertips with the olive oil and apply it directly on your skin. You can also use cotton balls if you find it uncomfortable to use your fingertips. You no longer need to apply any moisturizer depending on how oily the skin is.
