Crayons: Not Always Child’s Play

You can make a homemade lipstick by mixing eyeshadow with crayons. Combining the two ingredients allows you to make several variations in terms of colored lipstick. You’ll need:

  • Oil
  • Eyeshadow
  • ¼ non-toxic crayon
  • 1 teaspoon lip balm

First, set up your double boiler. Use a steel container (small) to pour in the oil, then the lip balm, and finally the crayon. Wait for the crayon to melt. Then add the eyeshadow. Then turn off the heat and remove the container that holds the lipstick. Use a plastic spoon or toothpick to mix the mixture. Then pour the lipstick into a container (small).

Use a q-tip to apply the lipstick. Put the applicator in a separate container. You could also put the applicator and lipstick in a larger container if you want the two items to stay together.

From Eyes to Lips

One way to make lipstick at home is to use eyeshadow. You might be surprised at the recipe, but it’s effective. First, find some eyeshadow that’s old, or you can buy some new eyeshadow that’s cheap. It could be a compacted powder or loose, but shouldn’t be in the form of gel. Put some eyeshadow into a bowl. Then use a spoon’s back to mash up the product until it’s a fine powder that doesn’t have lumps.

If you want the lipstick to shine you can add a little shiny eyeshadow. That will add some shimmer to the lipstick.

Eyeshadow is a wonderful method to experiment with various colors of lipstick. If you’re going to make lipstick using eyeshadow make sure to use colors that are rare among lipstick hues, including blue green, black, etc.

You should then add 1 tablespoon petroleum jelly into a bowl, then add 1 teaspoon eyeshadow (powder) that you’ve made. Heat it in a microwave until it becomes a liquid, then stir it up so the color is mixed well in the jelly.

Just Crayons

This is a basic method whose main ingredient is a box of crayons. It can produce bright lipstick that has just about all colors of the rainbow. You could use broken or new crayons. Make sure that you use non-toxic crayons, and also avoid ones with a strong scent.

Use a double boiler in order to melt the crayon. Make sure to use this tool so the crayons don’t burn. Remove the paper label. Then put the crayon in the double boiler’s top area. Heat over heat (medium) until the crayon has melted.

Next, stir in some oil (coconut, almond, olive, jojoba, etc.). Stir until the oil and wax are combined totally. You could add a couple drops essential oil to hide the crayon’s smell, such as lavender or peppermint.

Then pour the blend into containers. You could use a lipstick/chap stick tube, cosmetics pot (small), or other container that has a lid. Pour in the liquid then put the container in the fridge so the lipstick will harden.

These are just some of the homemade lipstick recipes you can use.
