Lipstick is a great way to add color to your lips, but what if you want to add shine as well? In that case you should consider lip gloss. It’s a way to make your lips as shiny as they are colorful. While you could buy commercial products the problem is that they tend to be expensive and contain unhealthy ingredients. A better option is homemade recipes that include ingredients you can find in your home or at a local store. This will help to give you lovely lips in no time at all.
All of Your Beeswax
This recipe includes a variety of ingredients that will help to make your lips shiny and healthy. You’ll need the following ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax
- 1 tablespoon of shea butter
- ½ teaspoon red/rose mica powder
- 2-4 drops peppermint (essential oil)
First, melt the bees wax, coconut oil, and cocoa/shea butter in a jar (glass) that’s in a pot(small). The pot should have water that’s simmering but not boiling. Stir the mixture until it’s totally melted. Be cautious not to allow any water in the mixture.
After everything melted, stir in any colors/essential oils if you’re using them. It’s up to you which mixture you choose. You could add a little red coloring or some cocoa powder to add color. After you’ve mixed in the colors/scents, it’s time to use a dropper to move the lip gloss to tins/lip gloss containers. Then let the mixture cool.
If you use tins, use your fingertips to add the lip gloss. However, if you use a plastic container just add the lip gloss as you would apply lipstick or chapstick.
You could use old tins when using the recipe. However, you can also find tins online that could be used for making the lip gloss as a gift. Adding a little extra beeswax could form a lip balm that you could use as a chapstick. Another benefit of this recipe is that it’s natural so you don’t have to worry about side-effects.
Honey isn’t just sweet but can also help your lips to be sweeter. There are many recipes for lip gloss that include honey. However, this is definitely one of the best ones. Before you start you’ll need to collect the following ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon Shea butter
- 1 teaspoon honey, and almond/olive oil
- 1 teaspoon beeswax (grated)
- 5 chocolate chips (white)
- 3-4 drops vanilla extract
- Container (lip balm)
You could also add a little ground-up oatmeal and some whole milk (dry) in order to make a texture that’s grainier, which will help to remove dead skin cells each time you add the lip balm. However, keep in mind that the change in the texture Is not major.
First, combine all of the oils in a bowl (small) and add the vanilla extract (or other essential oil). Use a microwave-safe bowl to melt down the beeswax a little at a time until it’s nearly melted.
Then add in the chocolate chips and heat the mixture again until both of the ingredients are 100% melted. Blend the beeswax and chocolate blend with the various oils. Then stir to combine all the ingredients. Transfer the substance to a container (clean) quickly. Then wait for it to thicken. If you want to speed up the process put the lip gloss in the freezer in order to speed up the process.
These are a couple great recipes if you want to add some gloss to your lips without spending a lot of money on commercial products. They include natural ingredients so you won’t have to worry about harsh side-effects.
