While it’s not practical to expect your skin to be perfect, you can always strive to achieve that goal. One way is to lighten or remove skin blemishes. There are a lot of products on the market, but they tend to have harsh chemicals and high price tags. A better solution is to use home remedies to solve the problem. Not only are they cheaper but they’re also much less likely to cause side-effects. Here are some home remedies you might want to use:

Tomato Juice

Tomatoes are high in Vitamin C and antioxidants, making it great for providing clear and glowing skin. It also helps large pores to shrink and helps to cure acne. That’s due to its astringent features. Tomatoes are also helpful for reducing suntans because of the high amount of lycopene. First massage your skin using tomato pulp. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and then use cool water to rinse. Follow these steps every day for many weeks or until you get the results you want.

Potato Juice

The juice contains starch that helps to lower pigmentation. It also helps to make dark circles under the eyes less noticeable. First peel/grate a small potato. Use a cheesecloth or fine sieve to remove the juice. Then soak one cotton ball in the potato juice. Next, apply it to your skin. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off the mixture. Follow this procedure daily for 1 month or until you’re happy about the results you’re seeing.

Lemon Juice

It turns out lemons aren’t just for lemonade. You can also use it as a type of skin-lightening remedy in order to reduce the effects of dark spots due to its bleaching power. It works because high citric acid content helps to remove dead skin and extra oil, and kill bacteria that can cause acne. Besides that, it also reduces big pores and makes the skin smooth.

One method is to apply fresh lemon juice directly on your skin. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse it off. Follow these steps daily for about a month.

You could also mix equal amounts of lemon juice and tomato sauce. You could also add 1 tablespoon of oatmeal. Then apply the blend to the affected region of your skin. Let it sit for around 15 minutes, and then rinse. Follow this procedure daily or 3-4 times per week for around one month.

Another option is to mix ¼ teaspoon of lemon juice and honey. Then rub the mixture on your skin. Wash it off after letting it sit 15-20 minutes. Follow this process a couple times per seek for 1 month or until you start noticing an improvement.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This is high in alpha hydroxyl acids and is therefore helpful in lighting blemishes and dark spots. It also helps to keep the skin’s pH levels balance, opens clogged pores, and reduces extra oils. It can also help to battle acne breakouts.

First mix organic apple cider vinegar and water using a 1:3 ratio. If it’s too strong you can add more water. Then dip a cotton ball into the solution and use it to dab the mixture onto the affected area. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse it off.  Follow this procedure 2-3 times daily or until the blemishes disappear.

Fuller’s Earth

This is excellent for removing dead skin cells and also blemishes. It’s able to soak up the extra oil and has an effect of skin-lightening. First, add rose water, green tea, lemon juice, cucumber juice, or water to 2 tablespoons of fuller’s earth to create a smooth paste. Apply it to your skin and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse.

Another method is to make a paste by mixing 1 teaspoon of tomato juice/sandalwood powder in 2 teaspoons of fuller’s earth. Spread it on the skin and let it sit 20 minutes. Then rinse.
